MATTAWA, Wash. – The Grant County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a child rape case. A Mattawa man is in jail accused of sexually assaulting one of his children.
The man is not being identified to protect the victims.
A woman called authorities on November 10 saying her child had been raped. Deputies learned the woman and her husband had been involved in a domestic violence incident and the woman fled to a relative’s nearby home. She told deputies she returned a short time later to find evidence her daughter had been sexually assaulted.
When deputies arrived on the scene, the woman’s husband refused to cooperate. Deputies were forced to use a Tazer twice to subdue him. The man was booked into the Grant County Jail on suspicion of First Degree Rape of a Child.
The girl, who is under the age of ten, was rushed by ambulance to a Yakima hospital where she underwent surgery for her injuries. Another child living in the home, also under the age of ten, was also taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.
