(OLYMPIA) -- Washington Governor Chris Gregoire has ordered flags at all Washington state agency buildings be lowered to half-staff Tuesday in honor of U.S. Marine Cpl. Joshua R. Dumaw of Spokane Valley.  Dumaw died last week in Afghanistan while supporting combat operations in Nimruz Province.

Governors have the authority to lower flags when a state resident in the military is killed in the line of duty.  The Governor's office says citizens and businesses are encouraged to join in the recognition.
