SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) -- The Spokane City Council has approved the use of electric golf carts on streets in the Hillyard neighborhood in northeast Spokane.
The measure approved Monday allows the carts on residential streets where the speed limit is 25 mph or lower. The golf cart drivers don't have to have a driver's license, but they must be at least 16-years-old.
The Spokane Streets Department said it will cost anywhere from $3,500-$5,000 to install more than one dozen new signs. To cover the cost, golf cart drivers are required to register with the city, pay a $50 annual fee and carry liability insurance.
