SPOKANE-- Gonzaga University started giving out its H1N1 vaccines Tuesday.
Gonzaga only had 50 doses to hand out and all of those doses were already reserved. GU set up clinics to get people their shots. The university is hoping to get more doses soon.
Meanwhile, Whitworth University says it has had vaccines since last Wednesday. Whitworth had already handed out about half of those doses. Most of the rest are already reserved, and there are 15 leftover. Those are only being given to high risk patients like healthcare workers, pregnant women, and people taking care of babies under sixth months. Whitworth says H1N1 started to peak on campus back in September, but they don’t think it is over. Whitworth says it had about 100 students sick out of a student body of 1,400.
Both universities say they are hoping for more vaccine soon to get to the rest of the students, but they have no idea when they might get another shipment.
