PORTLAND -- Emilio Hoffman, a freshman at Reynolds High School, was shot and killed by a lone gunman on campus Tuesday morning, according to family members.
“I met with Emilio’s parents this afternoon and I can tell you how devastated they are,” said Troutdale Police Chief Scott Anderson. “They want you to know that Emilio was a great kid and he was loved by all.”
Hoffman, 14, was a freshman at Reynolds and also played on the Reynolds Raiders junior varsity soccer team. Coaches tweeted that he was "a great soccer player and a great friend."
A teen who Emilio identified on Facebook as his girlfriend tweeted "I have never been in so much pain," Tuesday afternoon. "There is nothing I wouldn't give to see him again."
#RIPEmilioHoffman I love you so much and I always will. You were my first kiss and the first guy I truly loved. I miss you so much. #52414❤️— ♛☯❁☮ (@LyssaKarm) June 10, 2014
People who knew him and those who did not reacted swiftly on social media with condolences.
Even though I didn't know him, this whole thing is just such a tragedy. He was definitely gone too soon. #RIPEmilioHoffman— jacob (@highwayhookar) June 10, 2014
None of this hit me until I looked at Emilio's twitter and saw he was active just six hours ago. Now he's gone forever. #RIPEmilioHoffman— Lyric (@lyric_miller) June 10, 2014
#RIPEmilioHoffman you were such a fun friend in Spanish. I can't believe you had to leave us this way. Life in unfair. I am heartbroken.— Maggie (@maggielee98) June 10, 2014
