SPOKANE-- Thunderstorms began moving into the Spokane area Saturday afternoon.
The problems started early. Flooding overwhelmed streets and homes in many locations.
Both directions of I-90 were submerged in several inches of water near Thor and Freya, causing traffic to come to a standstill. The Washington Department of Transportation says a heavy thundershower with hail led to the problem.

On 5th & Lacey, homeowners reported seeing up to five inches of standing water in the middle of the street. Residents said five houses in that neighborhood sustained some flooding damage. Neighbors said they started removing debris from the storm drains as soon as the rain started coming down hard.
“It’s very frustrating. It’s the fourth time I’ve been flooded in five years,” said Vickie Brown, whose basement flooded.
