SPOKANE, Wash. -- Authorities found a suspect who fled from police early Thursday morning hiding in a barrel.

It started around 4 a.m. when Airway Heights Police were engaged in a high speed chase with 21-year-old Jesse Woodward.

With help from the Spokane Police Department, officers set up spike strips near Third and Monroe to disable Woodward’s car.  After running over the spike strip, Woodward made it to 5th and Washington before coming to a stop.  He jumped out of the car and ran away from the scene.

Officers quickly set up a perimeter and found Woodward hiding in a plastic barrel behind a nearby apartment complex.

Woodward was arrested for Attempt to Elude, Possession of Stolen Vehicle, and an outstanding Reckless Endangerment warrant.

No injuries were reported.
