NEWMAN LAKE— Three people were left homeless early Tuesday after a fire ripped through their Newman Lake home.
Firefighters received the call just after 1:30 A.M. for the home on the southeast side of the lake.
The family said they were woken up to smoke alarms going off in the house and quickly got outside. When crews arrived, the family was outside waiting while flames engulfed the house.
Several units responded and knocked down the flames. However, the home continued to smoke for several hours. A car in the driveway was also hollowed out by the fire.
No other structures were burned and no injuries were reported. Fire investigators are working to figure out a cause.
The Red Cross was also called to help assist the family.
