Fingerprints help identify body found in Spokane River

SPOKANE, Wash.—Fingerprint records from California helped the Spokane County Medical Examiner identify the body found floating in the Spokane River in January. The Medical Examiner announced Tuesday that they body was that of Rosalba Robayo Blanco, 60.

Blanco’s body was found January 10 in the water near East Empire. Authorities then worked for months to try and identify the woman.

The Medical Examiner’s Office is asking the public to contact this office or the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office if information is known about this individual or her family.

Authorities believe she may have changed her name since 1988.

Blanco was identified with help from the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NAMUS) and the IAFIS (integrated automated fingerprint identification system.
