CHATTAROY, Wash. -- Two people, six dogs and two lizards escaped an early morning house fire in North Spokane County Tuesday.

Spokane Firefighters say their mobile home, in the 24,000 block of North Elk Chattaroy Road, caught fire just after five this morning. They say some items too close to a baseboard heater is to blame.

The firefighters were able to contain the fire to one room and the back porch.

They called for a backup fire truck because of the morning's frigid temperatures, in case the water froze.

Firefighters say this is a reminder to make sure you do not have anything close to any type of heater in your home.
