SPOKANE, Wash. – Traffic is back-up and running after truck hit a pole Friday morning in North Spokane and closed all lanes along Monroe near Fairview. Traffic was diverted from Cleveland to Dalton until about 9:30 a.m. when Monroe was reopened.
Emergency crews responded to the intersection of N. Monroe St. and W. Fairview Ave., near the Monroe Street hill, just before 8:30 a.m.
"I've seen some pretty bad crashes, but I don't think I've seen a truck lookin' like that before," said Jasmine Garner who witnessed the wreck.
Two people were taken to the hospital according to firefighters on the scene. Both of the people were in the truck. Spokane police said the people were expected to be okay, although a female passenger suffered serious injuries after the vehicle's right tire pushed into her. The driver was able to get out of the truck on his own, authorities said.
Officers at the scene said the truck was going southbound and lost control. However, it was not immediately known what caused the driver to lose control.
