SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. -- A man suspected of driving drunk plowed into a parked Spokane Valley Police Department patrol car early Tuesday morning.
It happened just after midnight near N. Herald Road and E. Valleyway Avenue.
Washington State Patrol said Justin Yochum, 30, was driving north when his Subaru struck the rear corner of the fully marked SVPD patrol car. It was unoccupied at the time.
Yochum’s car spun out and came to a rest blocking N. Herald Road.
The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office requested Washington State Patrol investigate the collision. Troopers arrested Yochum for DUI charges and booked him into jail.
Deputies said when they confronted the driver he said, "I am drunk."
Spokane Valley Sheriff's Deputy J. Spitzer was assisting another deputy on a burglary call. While on scene, Deputy Spitzer watched as the Subaru ran into the back driver's side corner of his marked patrol car. The Subaru spun, struck the driver's side front quarter panel of his vehicle and came to rest, according to the deputy.
No injuries were reported.
