KOOTENAI COUNTY, Idaho -- Deputies responded to an armed robbery north of Hayden early Saturday morning.
Investigators said a man entered the Alpine Country Store in the Garwood area with a handgun around 5 a.m. The clerk at the store told deputies the man stole money from the register, then took off on foot across Highway 95. It was not known how much money was taken.
The Sheriff’s Office, assisted by the Coeur d’Alene Police Department and the Idaho State Police, set up a perimeter around the store and a K9 was called to the scene to begin searching for the suspect. The K9 track, however, was unsuccessful.
The suspect was described as being a white male in his mid to late twenties, standing about 5’9” tall and weighing 175 lbs. The man was also described as wearing a dirty gray hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and black and white tennis shoes. Deputies said the suspect concealed his face with a gray scarf.
Anyone with information in the case was asked to contact the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office.
