SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. -- A man was rushed to the hospital Tuesday night after being stabbed with a broken golf club, according to officials.

Deputies told KREM 2 News that two men on bicycles broke into a home near 32nd Avenue and Best looking for a woman, possibly over some type of bicycle transaction that had taken place. A man living at the home reportedly told the suspects that the female was not at the residence.  The two men came back three separate times and the third time, some type of altercation took place, according to investigators.

Initial reports indicated that one of the men accused of breaking into the residence was stabbed by the person who lives at the property with what appeared to be a broken golf club. The victim was in critical condition when he left the scene.

Investigators were sorting through all the information on Tuesday night. The second man accused of breaking into the home remained at large Wednesday. He possibly left on a bike, according to officials.

The man living at the home was not taken into custody and was cooperating with investigators, deputies said.
