DEER PARK-- A Deer Park teenager was crowned the fastest grocery bagger in the state of Washington.

The Yoke’s employee says it's not just about speed. Glenn Cragun begins each bag with a simple question for the customer, would you like paper or plastic?

She is the first girl to ever win the fastest bagger competition at Yoke’s; she’s also the youngest at 17-years-old.

Over the weekend, Glenn competed in the Yoke’s Washington Food Industry Best Bagger Championship. Her journey began at her hometown Yoke’s Fresh Market in Deer Park. There she beat out all her fellow co-workers, then onto corporate, defeating all Yoke’s employees, next came the state championship.

Glenn says you can’t put cans on cans, or bottles on cans. She says another rule, just keep all the heavy stuff on the bottom. Judges scored competitors on speed as well as technique.

Glenn says she practiced two hours a day leading up to the competition. As fast as the items slide off the scanner, she has them in bags. Glenn has only worked at Yoke’s for a year. She says she takes her job seriously and in the end it's paid off. Glenn won $500 for taking first in the state. She’ll compete at nationals in February. The winner of that competition receives $10,000 and an appearance on David Letterman.
