TWIN FALLS - Authorities now say they know the identity of a man found dead in an attic in a Twin Falls home.

A homeowner found the man's body in the attic of his home Sunday morning after smelling a strong foul odor.

The deceased man has been identified as Dennis Crossman, 41 of Twin Falls. Police tell KTVB that he was a mentally disabled person who lived about two blocks from the home where he was found dead. Crossman was known to roam the neighborhood.

The homeowner says he is used to foul smells, because animals have gotten stuck in the attic of his home on the 400 block of Idaho Street East in the past. The body was badly decomposed when it was discovered, according to police.

Crossman was listed on the Idaho Missing Persons Clearinghouse list maintained by the Idaho State Police. Records indicate he was last seen on October 3rd.

The home where he was found features an external staircase up to the attic - and the door at the top was unlocked. Police believe he went into the attic and died. They do not believe any sort of crime occurred.
