WHITMAN COUNTY, Wash. -- One person was killed in a crash on U.S. 195 Friday morning.
Washington State Patrol also reported two occupants were trapped in the wreckage.
The two-car collision happened in northbound traffic seven miles south of Colfax. Washington State Patrol troopers said the roadway was completely blocked as a result of the wreck.
Authorities said Douglas Hinchey was driving southbound on Highway 195 when he fell asleep. His pickup crossed the center line and hit a car driven by Gerald Wickard, 57. Wickard's passenger Rodella Wickard, 60, died at the scene.
Hinchey and Gerald Wickard were transported to the hospital.
Hinchey faces charges of Second Degree Negligent Driving.
