COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho.-- Emergency crews were on the scene of a deadly construction accident in Coeur d’Alene Tuesday night. Officials said a worker fell at an apartment complex under construction.
The complex was at Grandmill Lane and Seltice Way. Police officers responded to the report of a trauma call at the address. Officers identified Larry G. Jones, 67, of Post Falls as the victim of a fall. Jones was deceased when officers arrived.
Jones had been working as a sub-contractor for Copper Basin Construction on some new apartment buildings. He was on the roof of the complex measuring for rain gutters when he fell, according to investigators. Witnesses reportedly saw him fall and told authorities Jones was not wearing a safety harness.
“This appears to be a tragic accident. We extended our deepest sympathy to the family of Larry Jones,” said Coeur d’Alene Police Chief Ron Clark.
Police were warning people Tuesday night to avoid the area while emergency crews responded.
