SPOKANE -- A car wash for a family who lost their home to a house fire last weekend raised $1,200.

People from all over the Spokane community came together Saturday to show their support for the Katruska family.

The parents ,along with five children, lived in a home on North Maple Street destroyed by fire on August 25.

"This might be the answer to our prayers, this may end up being the way we get into a home," said Melissa Katruska.

The family said they will use the money to move into a new rental home.
