COLVILLE, Wash. -- About a year ago, a fire destroyed a large furniture store in Colville. The store now has a new home.

On February 16, 2013, Saundra Wilma stood outside her furniture store and watched the business she owned for 20 years go up in flames.

“It’s what’s a tremendous site. Just horrific,” said Wilma.

Wilma said fire investigators could not determine the cause of the fire but suspected it may have been an electrical problem.

Wilma still had inventory in a warehouse one block away. She spent the next eight months renting office space at a local bank and furniture showroom space at numerous locations throughout the town.

“We would move from building to building until someone sold it or needed it until we got this remodeled,” said Wilma.

Saundra’s Furniture now has a new home but it is temporary. Wilma plans to rebuild at the original spot after she gets a settlement figure from her insurance company.

“Right now we’re running our one year fire anniversary but instead of calling it a fire anniversary we are calling it a new beginning,” said Wilma.

Wilma hopes to have a settlement from the insurance company in a year.
