NESPELEM, Wash. -- Tribal Councilman Ernest “Sneena” Brooks III has resigned from the Colville Business Council in the wake of being arrested in a rape investigation.
The Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation announced Thursday Brooks cited “personal reasons” for his resignation. Brooks stepped down on Tuesday.
According to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, Brooks was arrested at the Coeur d’Alene Casino Friday. He posted a $5,000 bond.
Brooks was the Vice-Chairman of the Colville Business Council. He had served on the council since 2011.
Brooks lives in Omak and represented that district.
