Colorado boy safe, suspect arrested after carjacking 3 vehicles

KUSA - Police arrested, Ryan Stone, 30, the man who stole a red SUV early Wednesday morning with a child inside. The suspect then led police on a chase, ditched the red SUV and carjacked two additional vehicles before crashing.

He fled on foot when police chased him down and arrested him.

It started around 6:20 a.m. when police were following a red SUV with the 4-year-old boy inside.

He was inside a 2008 red Ford Edge when it was stolen from a gas station in Longmont.

At 7:30 Wednesday morning the suspect jumped out of the red SUV on I-76, forced a driver and passenger out of a gold minivan and took off in the second stolen vehicle.

The 4-year-old boy, Allen Chavarria-Rodriguez, was found safe in the red SUV.

Police began chasing that stolen gold minivan.

Finally, the suspect jumped out of the gold minivan and forced a woman out of a silver sedan. He sped off in his third stolen vehicle of the day.

The suspect crashed the silver vehicle, fled on foot and was caught by police at Peoria and Lincoln.

An officer was hit at E-470 and Chambers. He was taken to Littleton Adventist Hospital with serious injuries.

The people who were forced out of the gold van were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Stone was wanted on multiple warrants. His parents live in Longmont.
