COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho -- Police arrived at the scene of a possible assault on Monday to find that it was a false report.
Officers received a call around 9:40 a.m. The caller said there was a possible assault with a firearm on the 300 block of South 10th Street in Coeur d'Alene. According to police, the caller claimed that they saw a man with a gun holding four women hostage inside of a home.
Police later discovered that the caller was mentally handicapped and that there was never a hostage situation.
