SPOKANE, Wash—Spokane leaders assigned extra crews to work through the night plowing, de-icing and sanding officials. City leaders sent out text alerts to cell phones Friday afternoon

A winter storm dumped snow across the Inland Northwest Friday, slowing traffic, causing wrecks.

Citizens can sign up to receive text alerts for their respective neighborhood to include Browne's Addition, South hill, Downtown, North side, East Spokane and West by texting 509-385-5775 and follow the prompt to choose a location. The snow season runs from Nov. 15 to Mar. 15.
