SPOKANE, Wash.--A local musician was asking for help Monday in revitalizing a piece of Spokane history. The City of Spokane stepped in to give the man’s campaign a boost.

Dan Hoerner owns the Big Dipper in Downtown Spokane and wants to reopen it as a full-time venue. He needs to raise a lot of money to install a fire sprinkler system so the building is up to code.

Hoerner started a fund on the website ‘Indiegogo’ but only raised about 10% of what he needed.

The City said it would bring the water line right into the building at no cost. That will cover about 50% of the sprinkler system bill.
