SPOKANE, Wash.--The Spokane Fire Department warned citizens Wednesday to stay out of the Spokane River. Offiials said the river was starting to cover portions of the Centennial Trail along Upriver Drive just east of Mission Avenue.

Officials said people should consider any part of the trail that is under water closed.

City fire officials said despite somewhat warmer outside temperatures, water temperatures in the river remain very cold.
