SPOKANE-- Construction crews are set to break ground Wednesday on a prime piece of real estate in Spokane.

Just west of the Monroe Street Bridge, workers will extend the Centennial Trail through the Kendall Yards area.  It will link the trail from downtown Spokane to the Sandifur Bridge.

The trail will be paved and include lookouts.  Developers expect restaurants and cafes to spring up next to it as well.

The groundbreaking ceremony was scheduled for 12:15 p.m. west of the Maple Street Overpass on Summit Parkway.
