NEW JERSEY--A New Jersey man was shot and killed in front of his wife during a car jacking at a mall over the weekend.

The man’s SUV was found Monday morning behind an abandoned home about eleven miles from the shooting.

The man was shot in the head but the wife was not hurt.

The county prosecutor said the couple was getting into their SUV when they were confronted by the suspects.

"The victim had opened the door for his wife, she had started to get in the vehicle. As he got to the driver's side and started to get ready to enter the vehicle, he was approached by two males and was shot before he entered his vehicle,” said county prosecutor Carolyn Muray.

Police said they believe it was a random car jacking. The two suspects are still on the loose.
