SPOKANE, Wash. -- Capt. Victoria “Tory” Ann Pinckney died Friday, May 3rd near Chon-Aryk, Kyrgyzstan in the crash of a KC-135.  Pinckney was based out of Fairchild Air Force Base.
 
The Department of Defense released the names of all three victims on Sunday. Also killed were Capt. Mark T. Voss, 27, of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Tech Sgt. Herman Mackey III, 30, of Bakersfield, Calif. The airmen were assigned to the 93rd Air Refueling Squadron.

The cause of the crash is under investigation according to the Department of Defense.


The plane was on a refueling mission for Afghanistan war operations at the time of the crash, a U.S. defense official in Washington said, speaking anonymously because he was not authorized to discuss the details of an ongoing investigation.

Pinckney graduated from Palmdale High School in California. She graduated college from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 2008. Military leaders said Pinckney majored in Systems Engineers Space Systems. She earned Master’s Degree in Psychology.

Pinckney is survived by her husband, Richard, and seven-month-old son, Gabriel.  Both live in Spokane according to Fairchild leaders.

Pinckney was 27-years-old.
