YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) -- The candidates for Washington governor, Republican Rob McKenna and Democrat Jay Inslee, meet for a debate Tuesday night in Yakima.
Polling indicates the two are locked in a close race to replace Democrat Chris Gregoire, who did not seek a third term. If McKenna is elected he would be the first GOP governor in the state since 1980.
The candidates face off at the Yakima Convention Center. The debate is sponsored by the Yakima Herald-Republic, the Association of Washington State Hispanic Chambers of Commerce, and KCTS and KYVE.
