COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho—Canada native Heather Wurtele was the top female finisher at the Coeur d’Alene Ironman on Sunday. She won in 2013 as well but said the race in 2014 was much more challenging.

Wurtele said the wind was her biggest enemy on Sunday. She said she also had some mechanical issues.

“I got a flat tire. I got one last year too, I don't know what it is about me hitting stuff and not paying attention on this course! But I'm getting better at changing those quickly,” said Wurtele.

Wurtele finished in around nine-hours and 34-minutes.

Wurtele said she planned to take a long break before her next race. She said she wanted to give herself plenty of time to recover.
