SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. --The brushfire burning along Depot Springs Road in South Spokane County burned 51 acres Tuesday afternoon.
Fire crews arrived on the scene of a brush fire between Spangle and Cheney around 1:00 p.m. The fire is now 100 percent contained.
Tuesday night, firefighters were still on scene watchin hot spots.The brush fire was threatening five homes when crews arrived on scene. No homes were threatened as of 4:15p.m. according crews.
Crews original believed the fire was burning 100 acres of land because of the large amount of smoke the fire was producing.
Flames burned timber and grass in the area according to firefighters. The flames also charred grass along the backside of a farm on Depot Springs Road.

Department of Natural Resources firefighters were battling the flames from the ground and air. A plane was called into drop fire retardant over the area. Four aircrafts helped battle the fire according to crews at the scene.
