SPOKANE, Wash.— Crews plan to start removing leaves from narrow streets Tuesday in Spokane Browne’s Addition.
That means by 9 A.M., cars must be off the streets running North-South or they will be towed.
Browne’s Addition is the only area in Spokane where vehicles can be towed during leaf clean-up. The City said some years, upwards of two dozen cars have been towed.
Neighbors in Browne’s Addition said finding another place to park can be a hassle, but it is something they are used to.
“I’ve been here for almost 30 years and there is the occasional towing, but also neighbors scamper to help other neighbors remember,” said Mary Moltke.
Starting at 9 A.M. Wednesday, crews will tackle the East-West streets. The city wants to remind people it is illegal to rake leaves from your yard into the street for pick-up.
Leaf clean-up will continue into the third week in December.
