SPOKANE, Wash. -- With the beautiful weather we've had the past few days and continuing into the weekend, a trip to the park might be on your agenda. Many come to Spokane Parks to relax or play. Unfortunately, some take that play too far.

The Spokane Parks and Recreation Department said park drinking is something they continually battle. Park-goers told KREM 2 they're seeing more people boozing at the parks. Any sort of booze is forbidden in Spokane Parks, unless there is a specific event with a permit.  Even then, it's limited to a certain space. Parents we talked to said it's frustrating.

"It's something you should do in the privacy of your home, especially with all the kids here playing around," said one mother.

Police told KREM 2 park drinking is a problem. They wanted to stress that anyone caught can get a civil ticket. That means offenders have to see a judge.

SPD said while it's mostly transients they catch drinking in the park, they're also finding more teens.
