COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho -- Authorities said they found the body of a man who went missing in Lake Coeur d’Alene on August 2.
A local dive team discovered the body of Gary “Scotty” Shawver, 57, around 8:30 Friday night in the Stevens Point area in about 60 feet of water.
The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office and dive team members recovered Shawver’s body from the bottom of the lake. Officials said family members and friends were there during the recovery.
Shawver went missing when he jumped into the lake from a boat to retrieve an item that fell in the water.
Shawver’s friends and family said the longtime owner of Scotty’s Auto Body and RV was famous for throwing block parties in Post Falls. He had just opened a new shop earlier in 2014.
