SPOKANE, Wash.--Several Bloomsday participants contacted KREM 2 News outraged about graphic anti-abortion pictures along the Bloomsday course.

Some people said that in a free society you have to put up with bad taste. One man said he was so horrified that he would never do the race with his family again.

Witnesses said Bloomsday was a completely inappropriate place for the pictures. The same pictures were shown in 2013 at the race. Bloomsday sent KREM 2 News a statement in 2013 that said they were working to see that it did not happen again.

“I was so infuriated that it was there. By all these children...and mothers,” said one Bloomsday participant.

Bloomsday officials reported getting multiple complaints in 2013. It sparked an apology on their Facebook page. It said in part, “We apologize for the group picketing on the course. We are very disappointed this happened at a family friendly event. We are taking proactive measures to ensure this does not happen again.”

No officials in 2014 were available to release another statement.

Runners said they would be happy to see the protestors pick a different venue to voice their beliefs before Bloomsday 2015.

“I don't think it had anything to do with Bloomsday and they took advantage of the situation,” said one Bloomsday participant.

Spokane police said they were aware of the protestors. They added the protestors were not breaking any laws so there was nothing law enforcement could do about it.
