SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) -- Spokane-based utility Avista Corp. has joined 19 other companies in a lobbying group to back federal cap-and-trade legislation, which would limit carbon emissions and other greenhouse gases.

The group, called American Businesses for Clean Energy, started up earlier this month.

Much of Avista's electricity comes from hydropower. But company executive Tom Paine tells The Spokesman-Review that it doesn't want to be penalized for having a low carbon footprint while heavily polluting energy companies are treated more leniently.

I notice that this was the FRONT page of the Spokesman this morning......and I notice that the Spokesman BURIED the uncovering of massive fraud and lies from a British university that was one of the original "global warming" alarmists....the fraud consisted of absolute lying about temps and planning ways to get keep naysayers from finding the truth ..... the truth is all of this man made "global warming" is a farce.....that there is no definative evidence that man has caused any warming, and that the climate has gone thru ice ages and warming periods forever... furthermore, we've been cooling for 10 yrs.... would be nice to know what the financial stake the Spokesman has in controlling the news that they want people to know..then again, this is the same group that jimmed the parking garage deal for the rich folk....
