OLYMPIA, Wash. -- While Americans buy as many Powerball tickets as possible before Wednesday’s drawing, two Washingtonians already have a reason to feel excited.
Thomas and Mindy Bradley of Olympia won $250,000 playing Hit 5. Another player also matched all the numbers, and will split the half-million-dollar prize with the Bradleys. The $500,000 jackpot is the largest in Washington history.
“This may not be the Powerball jackpot, but it’s still huge for us! This money is definitely a life changer,” Thomas said.
The family plans to pay off debt and start a college fund for their daughter, who wants to become a marine biologist.
The Bradley family purchased their winning ticket at the Lacey Safeway at 1234 Marvin Road NE in Olympia.
