82-year-old known hitchhiker reported missing from Shoshone County

SHOSHONE COUNTY,  Idaho—Members of the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office were searching Saturday for a man who was reported missing on March 18, 2014.

Deputies said 82-year-old Warren Peter Trexler, commonly known as ‘Pete’, was last seen on March 13 by his landlord in Wallace. The landlord said Trexler used his bicycle as a primary mode of transportation, however sheriff’s deputies found the bicycle in the man’s garage.

Acquaintances reported Trexler was an avid hiker who has been known to hitchhike according to deputies.

Trexler was described as white, 5’6” and 160lbs, with grey hair and hazel eyes.

Investigators were unable to locate any of Trexler’s family members and the investigation into his disappearance was ongoing according to the sheriff’s office.
