CHENEY, Wash.-- Washington State Patrol said three people were injured Saturday evening in a crash just outside of Cheney.

Authorities said Curtis Cooley, 47, was trying to pass multiple vehicles in the eastbound lane of State Route 904 in a no passing zone. Officials said Cooley then hit another vehicle in the eastbound lane.

The driver of the other vehicle, Raquel Caballero, 21, was injured and taken to the hospital. Cooley was also injured along with an 8-year-old boy who was in the car with him. Both were transported to the hospital. The boy was listed in critical condition Saturday night.

Authorities said vehicular assault charges will be filed and they believe drugs or alcohol may have been involved in the crash.
