SPOKANE, Wash.--A Spokane boy was honored at a Hometown Heroes Luncheon put on by the American Red Cross Wednesday.

The boy received an award for saving his father’s life.

Law enforcement in both Oregon and Washington called the then 5-year-old boy a hero.

Dax Paget, 6, said he wants to be a police officer.

Paget and his dad were driving through Oregon when his dad suffered a stroke. Paget called his mom in Spokane. She called 911. Paget was able to give the location of him and his dad to troopers.

The Red Cross gave Paget the Youth Humanitarian Hero Award for his actions.

Troopers said his dad would have likely died without the little boy’s incredible detail and observation of his surroundings.
