An amusement ride accident at the Meeker Days celebration in Puyallup left several people injured, including children.
Puyallup Police spokesman Scott Engle said the caboose on the children’s kiddie train tipped over at the corner of 6th Ave SW and 2nd Ave SW.
Multiple children and adults were hurt. One child was taken to the hospital as a precaution. Five people had minor abrasions that required no treatment.
Police said a preliminary investigation found the cause of the accident was improper loading of the last car on the train.
Later in the day, a woman suffered a head injury in a fall when a zip line collapsed. Police said the 42-year-old woman got a third of the way down the line when it snapped.
The annual Puyallup Meeker Days Festival includes four entertainment stages, two food courts, KidZone with inflatable rides, TeenZone, Art in the Park, Beer Garden and a classic car show & competition
