49 DEGREES NORTH, Wash. - For weeks, the only tracks on 49 Degrees North ski resort have been from tires, but skiers and snowboarders are getting a chance to make their mark on the resort near Chewelah, WA.

49 Degrees North will be the second of the five local ski resorts to open before Thanksgiving when it opens on Saturday. Lookout Pass on the Idaho-Montana border opened last weekend.

49 Degrees North has more than 15-inches of snow at the summit and about 9-inches at the base--enough to cover the central and east basins. Most of it is thanks to storms in the last two weeks.

A wetter weather pattern means the snow is falling with higher moisture content.

"I have never seen the mountain in this good a shape, ever," said Brad Northrup, marketing manager for 49 Degrees North.
The resort will be closed Wednesdays and Thursdays.
