COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho -- Four Coeur d'Alene officers suffered smoke-inhalation during a fire investigation on Sunday morning.

Authorities say the officers were responding to a fire on the 600 block of Hattie Avenue around 7:30 a.m. They found heavy smoke and neighbors said a family could be trapped inside.

All four of the officers forced their way into the home and found flames coming from the ceiling. Officials say the officers discovered the home was unoccupied.

The firefighters were not injured.

The people who live in the home were safely located at a different location.

Investigators are still looking into the cause of the fire.

The family who lives in that home contacted KREM 2 News on Tuesday.  A woman and her two daughters lost everything in that fire.  An account has been set up at area Wells Fargo locations for donations to help them out.  The account is called, “Easter Sunday fire on Hattie Avenue in Coeur d’Alene”.
