OLYMPIA, Wash. - Gov. Jay Inslee is heading to eastern Washington to see the response to massive wildfires first hand.

Inslee was to fly to Wenatchee with National Guard Maj. Gen. Bret Daugherty and others on Friday afternoon.

At a press conference at his office earlier, he said multiple agencies are involved in the battle against multiple fires, and that there are currently about 2,000 firefighters on the ground in eastern Washington, along with a dozen helicopters from the Department of Natural Resources and the National Guard, along with a Washington State Patrol spotter plane.

He said that the state is rapidly training about 1,000 additional National Guard troops, and that potentially, active duty military could be called in to help as well.

Inslee spokesman David Postman said that more than 202,000 acres have burned so far.
