VANCOUVER -- A motorcycle officer was shot just before noon in east Vancouver Monday, according to police.

The shooting occurred near Northeast 162nd Avenue and 34th Street.

The officer had stopped a car that was reported stolen, according to The Columbian. When a dispatcher tried to contact the officer, the officer didn't answer and a citizen came on radio saying an officer had been shot.

Investigators said the officer's injuries were life-threatening.

Police are searching for one suspect, described as a man in a black T-Shirt.  A second suspect has been captured and is being questioned by police.

Police cordoned off the area right after the shooting.

The manhunt area includes Burton Elementary School and Diamond Park. Officers are searching homes and yards with K-9 teams. (See map below.)
