SPOKANE, Wash. -- The Spokane and Seattle Police Departments are working closely to crack down on predators soliciting teens for sex.

They are trolling popular hook-up sites and doing stings.

A 10-month long investigation by Seattle detectives landed a Spokane business owner in jail Wednesday night.

Authorities said the man posted an ad on Craigslist for a young skinny girl and instead got a Seattle detective.

Officials said when he arranged to meet the girl to exchange $200 for sex he was greeted by Spokane officers.

In this particular case, there was no kid at all. Court records show Patrick Rice was e-mailing back and forth with who he believed was an underage girl. After 10 months of talking, detectives said they agreed on a price tag for sex.

“Once it came down to them meeting, the Seattle Police Department, Seattle PD contacted us and we helped with this arrest,” said Officer Teresa Fuller.

Rice has no criminal history and was released from jail Thursday.
