SHERWOOD, Ore. – Thousands of dead and dying honeybees covered on a Sherwood street Sunday afternoon.

Sherwood resident Danya Anderson was driving on Highway 99 when she spotted the bees at the Sunset Boulevard stoplight.

“There were a bunch on the ground and a bunch swarming,” Danya Anderson told KGW. “Some were crawling and some were dead already."

“I know that something similar happened in Wilsonville, so I just want to make sure that the bees around here are OK,” she added. “I know that they're important to us."

Last year, tens of thousands of bumblebees were found dead in a Wilsonville shopping center.

In that case, two companies were fined for spraying the pesticide that killed the bees.
