Security bar deters 'Jitterz Java' robbers

SPOKANE, Wash. -- A suspect tried to rob Jitterz Java in North Spokane Sunday night.

The owner of the coffee stand said a barista called 911 after she thought she was being robbed.

She said the business put a bar in the window after the first couple times the store was robbed. She suspects the bar may have been what stopped the latest robbery attempt.

The barista said a man came to the window and tried to open it. When he did, she crouched down, grabbed her gun and called 911.

She said that is when the suspect at the window ran away.
