Accused Heather Cassel killer to be released from jail

SPOKANE, Wash. -- A man who was involved in the kidnapping and murder of Heather Cassel will be released from jail after making a plea deal.

Jon Ritchey pleaded guilty to Rendering Criminal Assistance on Thursday.

Detectives said Heather Cassel was murdered and kidnapped by Gary Stoddard and Ritchey one year ago. Cassel was found with a handcuff on and she had been shot multiple times.

The Cassel family said they were told there is not enough evidence to convict Ritchey of murder.

Stoddard is still scheduled to go to trial for Cassel’s murder and kidnapping.
